Their original announcement was misunderstood and turned into numerous articles announcing something that simply isn’t true.

This is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am extremely disappointed. This is by far the worst smartphone I have owned thus far. I am within the WFG thankfully and will be returning. Aside from not even being able to use the phone a good majority of the time, there is also a extreme battery issue…………Even have purchased a highly rated application to save battery power and it still uses more power than my Droid Bionic which is 4G as well. (and yes, my area is 4g). It is so unfortunate. Samsung made a beautiful screen, great functions with the ICS but have destroyed it with the essential function. The camera is also less than desirable, having a consistent undertone of greens or oranges doesn’t make for a high quality photo. 5.0 mp, although lower than other comparable phones, still should be adequate to take a decent photo. It is however—-NOT!!!

I will tell you the trick. I got a wall charger with three additional batteries which just keeps charging battery all day. I always have a spare battery in my pocket and then one for present usage with the other getting charged.

I have never charged my battery via phone and this system simply rocks. If you are so concerned use an app called Juice defender and your battery will last 2 days.

Apps are now becaming very demanding and it is better to often tweak your phone and remove unwanted apps to get better efficiency.

I love my galaxy s2 and no other phone can beat the functionality what I am enjoying out of this at the moment.

The bigger the screen, the worse it gets. And the light weight you enjoy so much really limits the size of the battery unless they can come up with new alternative power options.
Some tips on saving power
– Turn display brightness down to the lowest that you can live with
– Turn on Data, Wi-fi and Gps only when needed
– Turn off motion sensor
– Set display to turn off faster

Other than that though it has a much better battery than any of the HTC android phones i have had in the past (Magic, hero and Desire) I get a day and a half out of my Galaxy with general browsing, games and app use and the odd music playing. With the Desire i got approx 6 hours

Mine was rebooting in endless loop, one right after another giving me about 30 secs to do something. I tred over 5 times to get factory reset triggered. All photos and videos erased but contacts are all there (could be stored in sim so contacts still there).

Now at least I got phone to use. When the phone was rebooting endlessly, the heat generated around the camera lense is so hot that you feel uncomfortable to touch. Also, it produces bad burnt smell after around 20 reboots.

If you can let go your photos and video, try to reach “back up and reset” and reset your phone. This should get your phone back on without frequent rebooting. However, signal sign still not working properly.

Just tried to make call, signal sign shows no signal at all, but I can make call without problem.

Dear Ayah,

It has been a noted problem also in the version 4.0.3. I had it and started a separate thread in google forums. It seems to be operator related, the new Android seems to be incompatible with the softwarw some operators use. One solution that has worked for a number of people is to ask operator to change the SIM card to new. Other is to wait until Google instructs the operator to update the network software accordingly.

so during the wp8 release, the apps might cross 120k too as the rate of app addition is increasing too
what do you think?????

Comment on Why I Now Hate My Samsung Galaxy S2 by Peter Giang https://www.mobileinquirer.com/2011/why-i-now-hate-my-samsung-galaxy-s2/#comment-1944 Tue, 03 Apr 2012 23:31:00 +0000 http://www.mobileinquirer.com/?p=626#comment-1944 I am just randomly browsing and came upon this while trying to address the battery drain issue on my friend’s SGS2 without flashing.

From personal experience it is software from suppliers that heavily impacts on battery life. I myself own a plain old SGS that originally had battery life of maybe 12- 18 hours, this was on stock Vodafone ROM. After flashing it myself to custom developer roms or even the “pure” google rom my battery life increased vastly! Getting 1 – 3 days depending on my usage.

I’ve read through your article and believe that the fault is with Samsung however everyone here seems to be missing the point. It’s not the phone that has issues, it’s the software that it comes packaged with. For example my friend’s SGS2 was lasting 2 days easily with moderate use, now with a software update that took optus forever to release the battery life has just gone down the dunny lasting a meagre 6 – 8 hours which I find appalling.

At any rate there is my 2 cents. If you want to see performance improvement and battery life that should last at least a day then go custom, as long as carriers have it their way they are going to put crappy bloatware that will compromise battery life. I’m afraid my friend will have to move away from official updates… there seems to be no reasonable way, after all we buy a phone to use not to dim down the functions to nothing,

Had to go through the Verizon Office of the President but I was able to swap the phone out for no charge (well after the 14 day period; bought in December 2011 then find out the Maxx comes in January 2012!), as well as the case I had bought at the store for the original Razr. Initially I was told no, but the next day they changed their mind. Maybe a change of heart or they realized what they did. The Maxx is significantly better and what I expected, considering it is the same price I paid for the regular Razr. Hopefully they won’t pull a fast one like this again on consumers. I’m glad Verizon righted their wrong…just feel bad for all the other poor saps out there who got jipped.
